I still have the last 1900 I asked about, as I have always wanted a damascus ejector shotgun.
Now I have two.....

Have to correct this. Pulled my other Remington out this morning and it is an 1894 ejector gun.
My bad. laugh

Over the years I have managed to find a 28" KED 16 gauge and a 28" KED 12 gauge "light weight" both guns are under 6 pounds and corner nicely!
I looked at the XX out on lug of the 1894, it looks ver similar to the OP's photos. I am wondering if Remington did the choke work and markings as a factory retrofit?

That serial number chronology for the Remington Hammerless Doubles was produced by Charles Semmer from surviving shipping records at Ilion. Make of that what you will. I have recorded numerous guns up through the 1399xx range and then that handful of Krupp barrel guns in the 1406xx range, so where are all the other guns in the 140xxx and 141xxx range? When Remington Arms Co. sold their entire inventory of break-action guns to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware in St Louis in February 1910, did they finish up all the guns in work? Did Remington ship guns-in-work to Norvell Shapleigh? If so, did Norvell Shapleigh have gunsmiths to finish them up?

A friend has a 16 K with Ordinance steel barrel. I don't have the serial number. Not a light gun but I doubt there are many of those floating around.

I have a vague recollection that the Remington s/n lists were not accurate, and led to my question.

Sounds like something an unscrupulous seller would stamp on a set of blued over Damascus barrels.

No they are not Damascus barrels. I'll have to have him bring it out to look at it again . Pretty sure it is marked with an 0.
