My script is changing and I'm thinking about trying one of the newer style of wraparound shooting glasses. I use Rangers at this time. What are the opinions of you who've used some of the different systems on the market? Thanks for your time.

I've tried the Filson glasses and like them. They seen to help me with my colorblindness. I use Zeiss for driving, they do not show the colors as well.

I use a pair of RayBan Ambermatics that are about 14 years old. Great optics but I think they don't make them any more. Am I too out of style? ;-)

It's not so much the actual glass as it is the person doing the fitting. This guy travels to many State Trap meets around the country and fits shooters. He does an excellent job. http://lehmanoptical.net/ I have a pair with Titanium frames, plastic lenses and bi-foculs. They are very light, extremely comfortable and replaced 3 pairs of previous Bauch & Lomb shooting glasses. He is oriented toward competition so don't let him talk you into false tints. I have the Transition tint and I use these glasses for everything, driving, reading, everything. -Dick

Lehman is excellent and provides first class service and support with a broad product line. However, as a corrected vision shooter, you may be interested in the HyDefSpex Panthers (wrap around lens) system that holds a single set of corrective lens clipped inside of the tinted wrap around lens...you only have to buy/replace one pair of corrective lens and not every tint every time your prescription changes. They are expensive, but not as expensive as replacing a full set of prescription lens (I think) http://hidefspex.com/home.html

As a competition shooter, instructor and occasional hunter, who requires perscription RX lens when not wearing contacts, I've owned lots of different brands: Decots, Rangers, NYX, Sun Busters, Serengetti to name a few.
Recently invested in HiDefSpex Sebrings because the frame style accepts RX lenes. I have some brands with RX inserts, but since the Sebring frames take an RX lenses I just went for it. I was reticent to spend the money (and it is an investment!) on what appear to be the world's most expensive shooting glasses. But glad I did. Frames are adjustable for fit. Lenses are ballistic quality material that doesn't seem to have distortion and are highly rated for safety. Instead of fooling around with mulitple tints HiDef's use a unique approach based on just amount of light transmission (LTM 20%; 40%; 65% 99%) from one tint color to cover all shooting conditions. If you're serious about seeing the target (clay or with feathers) I recommend them.

AS a waterfowl shooter, I don't want inserts that can fog or get moisture in between the inserts and the lens proper which is why I keep it simple. Frankly my scripts have not chnaged that much over the years and if need be I can still use script shooting glasses I had made 20 years ago.
The ones Lehman made for me are 'bullet proof'(figure of speech) and except for one lens popping out as I throttled a 25# gobbler to death from his wing beats, I have never had a problem.-Dick

I got HiDefSpex about 2 years ago, my first pair of dedicated shooting glasses and have been very happy. Their customer service dept. was excellent.
BTW, Filson glasses are made by HiDefSpex or at least they were when I bought mine. Saved a bit by going to the source.

Thanks for the info. The HiDefSpex are one of the brands I've been really checking out. Other than price are there any drawbacks you can see to these? I haven't had any quality problems with my Rangers. But in the last year I have lost targets several times depending on the lighting and/or background. Living in the Northeast our conditions can and sometimes do change very quickly so a lens color which might be right for when you start a round may be very wrong mid way through. Again thanks for the info.
