In my use of longer hulls in short chambers if the load is same pressure as the gun was meant to use I haven't seen the hull feathering you show. Some of the guns I have used these loads in include an English Hepplestone, a French Ideal, a between the wars Sauer with 65mm chambers and a 20 ga LC Smith with original 2 1/2" chamber. I'm not saying it doesn't happen just that if the load is correct for what the gun was originally made for I haven't seen it happen with longer plastic hulls. ymmv

Ive been shooting 2-3/4 "low pressure" handloads in short chambers for 20 years. 12ga. < 7000psi and 20ga at or < 7500psi. Loads are 1100-1150fps. All were/are Ithaca Flues and Crass guns. 1 Flues 20 and 1 Crass 12 were damascus. I have never had ANY issues with feathering cases and all killed just fine. The 20ga load with 800x is dirty though. YMMV.

if there is a concern about shooting 2 3/4 shells in 2 1/2 guns, then why not just lengthen the chambers to 2 3/4?
keep it simple and keep it safe...

Removing metal always makes the barrels thinner in the chamber area. In what world is that a better option than shooting low pressure loads? Worse when you measure the chambers and find 2 3/4” shells fit but fail to consider your gun was meant to shoot 7-8,000 psi ammo and you drop 10-11,000psi in it. Shoot what it was designed to handle instead of what just fits and is convenient.

ky, there are one ounce 2 3/4 factory loads that develop pressures under 9000psi...why not shoot those...
also, 8000psi seems kinda low for most any 1 1/8 oz 2 1/2" load...
follow the 90 30 guide lines, shoot one ounce low pressure loads and you should be safe...
keep it simple and keep it safe...
