Even mostly loaded, the smaller duffle still fits into the compartment above the gun-case so I only have one piece of luggage to wrestle-with until I get to the check-in counter. It is heavy at that point (60-plus pounds), but the wheels and the handle extension make it manageable. I weigh everything before I head to the airport (on a digital bathroom scale) to make sure there are no surprises, but even if there are... I can move a few things from the big duffle to the little one until the big one is under the 50lb limit on their scale at the gate. I have to credit my wife for this creative solution. When I pick up the big duffle at my destination, I then re-insert the small duffle back into the big one and wheel it all away to my ride or my rental vehicle.
