The author states categorically that advent of semis heralded the end of SxS. My thinking is it was more the advent of cheap reliable pumps like the M12, M37, M31 and later the 870 after the war that really nailed the coffin shut. The SxS heyday was over by the start of WWII and I don't think semis were ubiquitous at that point.

So, if I'm correct, the article is incredibly basic AND spreads misinformation. What will be in his next one? Get rid of those Damascus barreled guns....they blow up!
