Lucky for me my brother likes to mess with a wood stove. He'd set it up the night before and get up and light it in the morning. Takes about 10 minutes to get the tent roasting.

Most interesting about the Grayling fish. The 4 guys I was with & 3 were Federal F&W Biologists @ one point in time, wouldn't keep nor cook the Grayling. But we did cook & eat a delicious Sheefish or >>White Fish<< they called it. We only caught a couple Dollies. Coho Salmon season closed 5 days before my arrival so those were out.

We say a neat natural effect of May Flies starting in a small mass of thousands, then slowing bloom out to the extents as Sunset continued. I have witnessed something similar in Alabama many, many times in May.

Was Giardia very prevalent in the River on which you were?

It's full of beavers so I'd say so. We use a katadyn water filter for camp.

We had something similar or just violently boil water for over 3 minutes & it was supposed to be safe??

I had never heard of >>Beaver Fever<< until this trip.

You do not want beaver fever. We only use the filter. Never boil it. Have done this trip 18 years and no problems.

Good to confirm. We boiled water to cook, make Coffee & to wash dishes.

Typical every night's setup & the Lawrence of Arabia(Gazebo Tent & I highly recommend it) was mine by default as the trip was so short notice that I didn't have time to source a personal tent.

I'm too old to like sleeping on the ground. We take cots, air mattress, and folding chairs.
