I'll throw in w/Mr. Geo. ;-) Sounds to me like a great day with a close friend & bud. The brand thing w/shotguns has been around from at least the era of the hammerless SxS's, at least according to one of my old books on 'shooting by experts' where they listed the results of both pattern penetration tests and flyer shoot results by brands, same today w/bench rest match results, golf clubs that 'won' & you name its. We should all know better by now, but hey, we're all pretty much human & just know that a bespoke purdy(sic)gun will make all the dif in the world. Sometimes the magic works & sometimes not. Borrowed guns mostly never miss, but that is subject for another thread or a doctoral thesis. Glad your Stevens had its day, NHCS. Thanks for sharing it w/us.

I will finish with saying that it was a nice day with close friend and bud. We met in the field duck hunting as teens. Have stayed close and hunted together ever since which is now 31 years.

He started hunting as a teen with his dad's NID. He didn't know anything about Parkers until I bought and started shooting a Trojan at ducks 23 years ago. He eventually got the Parker bug as money allowed. I have added to my own collection of P Bros but also picked up the Stevens I shot today, a Fulton and Baker Batavia Special. My friend is a clever and smart man, be will see the value and fun in the "other" doubles some day. :-)

I believe it is an indian problem and not the brand of arrow. I know guys that could beat a $60,000 Fabbri with a $150 870.

I gave the eulogy today in a tiny seaside cemetery for the Eastern Shore's finest gunner in modern times. He used a Stevens.

I hunted a lot with a guy many years ago that used a Stevens double. He was deadly with this gun and I doubt if he felt in anyway deficient because he wasn't shooting a Parker or a Fox.

The only time you feel gun "deficient," is at the gun chatter sites. In the blind with your dog - and the ducks are flyin' - who cares!
There's plenty of gun one-upmanship going around.

Yup the ducks got the better of me and my Stevens the next time out. But I won't talk about how his Parker 20 has improved his skeet shooting, no I won't do that, not ever. Nope not going to do it. :-)

In my book a pair of drakes beats a drake and hen brace. Sounds like you had a good time.
