You and I may not agree on much, but I agree with you on this!

I currently have 3 1894's and and 1 1/2 1900's, and on the look out for more graded 94's...I don't see them as second class, but there is no denying that most of the other double collectors do,...at least in terms of asking price...dollar for dollar, they're one of the most undervalued SxSs in the marketplace...

I think it started back at the "Creed's Moor" shoot where the American team beat the Irish team to take th 'Cup' everyone remembers the Sharps but the real 'hero' of the day was the Remington rolling block!! Remington has been America's redheaded stepchild ever since!!

All one has to do is look at their low grades and it's pretty evident why.

Remingtons, my favorite SxS. I now own an 1873 and an 1889. I've had 1894's and 1900's but like the hammerguns more. Also have three Parker hammerguns. At one time I've owned Lefever, Ithaca, L.C. Smith, but don't think any of them are any better than the Remington. About the big drop in the stock- that's the way a shotgun should be- just learn to shoot with your head up [ the way you normally hold it for everyday activities ] , not down and forward like a turtle. That way you won't be saying when missing a shot " damn, I lifted my head". Try it, you'll like it- trust me. Paul

Paul is right; nothing shabby about those hammer 89s. It is absolutely amazing how many of those made between 1901 and 05 survive with very very good wood. The 3" drop is a bit of a dogleg. I like the 32 o/u and the 31 pump but have neither.

My theory is that is because Remington is still cranking out firearms, not as much nostaglia associated with the Remington name as the other great names that have gone belly up.

This of course is not logical, but hell when it comes to shotguns, emontion overwhelms logic, elsewise when would all be shooting Beretta 391s, Mossberg pumps, and Mirokus.

j0j0, when it is just you and the dog, that ol' lowly Remington hammerless AE grade will suit you just fine.
It fits the landscape so well, don't lean it on a tree.
A throw back for sure, but thats what we crave!
