Lachaussée was founded in 1830 in Liège by Louis Lachaussée. He built machines for the production of gunpowder. In 1852 he died while setting up a gunpowder factory in Serbia. After this, his wife and son took over the business. The company then specialized in machine tools and ammunition machines.
In 1913 Louis Lachaussée, grandson of the factory, moved to Ans. During the First World War he fled to Paris to return in 1919. He left the military sector and started building machines for hunting and sports ammunition.
