Thanks so much for sharing. And I thought I was getting into esoteric Americana with my Tobin. What a magnificent piece!

No Pluto dogs or flying turnips, but that skeleton butt looks Parkeresque

That is one sweet hammer gun. I don't think I've ever seen one I liked more. "Beautiful" just doesn't do it justice.

Wonderful Daryl. I especially love the engraving overall, and those Setters on the Left are terrific. The Pointers need enlarging to see them better, and I am sure they compliment the Setters Dennis

Dennis, the pointers on the last photo above of the right lock plate are the best I have at the moment. I think the pictures have enough detail in them that if one copies them off to a picture file, one can greatly enlarge them.

OWD I’d say it was British, not German. I have a British hammer gun with very similar action shape including the fences, although not quite as nicely engraved. Mine probably dates from the 1880s or 1890s, but has been sleeved and the original proof marks are gone. However, the engraving on this one is far superior to that on mine, nice as mine is. I wonder if Giddings bought the gun in the white and finished it or bought the gun finished and I engraved and then engraved the side locks.
