For the price you are quoting you could get a new Ugartechea sidelock, round action.

Battle,
No, never even had one to take apart... the elusive Ideal is one itch that I haven't been able to scratch yet...an old friend had an engraved one that I've admired for decades...when he passed, I never found the courage to ask his wife about it...He highly valued the gun above all the others that he owned, and from what I've seen, with good reason...if you ever get tired of yours, let me know...it'll probably give me good reason to sell my last Darne...I really like the uniqueness of the whole gun, from lock-up right down to the retractable sling, and especially the Napoleon's hat sling swivel.

I think I'd change that L4 to M4 and go for Le Fusil's Ideal. So the French want a separate peace with the Oil Patch. Need to think a few apolitical thoughts about their guns fellas. Something to be said for the triple palms.

I did have a close look at the AYA #2RA, came really close pulling the trigger. For whatever reason, I find a BLRA more attractive.

I would, no doubt it's a sweet gun. But I need another 16ga like I need a (another) hole in my head

There must be more than politics involved with the Frenchmen's guns good ol'Rabbit.
Anything with three palms, is lost in translation...its the intangibles that make things right.
