Thinking about an Ithaca Model 37, based on the many good comments I've read here over the years. This is a 20 ga. with a plain barrel marked IC in the 217,000 range (I'm sure only of the first digit ... can confirm the number if it's important) and about 80% condition. Looks honest and unmessed with, with a buttplate. What should I be looking for or concerned about, and is $250 way too much? Thanks as always. TT

I don't know much about these. However I passed on a 20 ga. for 200.00 Sunday. It was at a festival called court days. They sell everything from guns to fight'n roosters. All though I did purchase a pork chop sandwich that was as good I'd ever had! Washed that down with a Dew and had a home made piece of fudge for desert! Man it don't get no better than that! I love redneck stuff! :p

$250.00 for a 20 ga. 37 would be a good deal in my book.

I know the Blue Book says it's too much, but you know how that goes. In MY book, $250 for any classic old shotgun with lots of life left is a pretty good deal. TT

i passed up a 20 at a dallas show that asking price was either $225 or $250 and have kicked myself ever since over not buying. i think it may have had a vent rib and was a later one, up in the '70's pressed checkering era. as to blue book, tell the blue book to come up with one at the condition/price stated on lots of guns. particularly having an original IC choke; it's difficult finding good older used guns that's aren't full or at least modified.

Geez, I would jump on it. The serial number puts that Model 37 in the 1949 range. A 20 gauge with IC choke is a real joy to shoot and carry. At 80% condition for $250.00, you are really getting a nice shotgun. You can't buy the brandnew junk they sell today for that price. I would buy this gun and feel pretty fortunate that I came upon it. You will enjoy it. They are a damn nice pump gun.

You might as well consult a Quiqa Board, for prices, as use a Blue Book.

I just paid $350 for a 95% M-37 20 ga. 26" plain barrel mfd. 1948, mod. choke. Unmessed with and 5Lbs. 14 oz. Better jump on that one or tell me who has it because these fantastic little bird guns are drying up. There's lots of 12's but not so many 20 & 16 ga. In case you haven't heard, quality pump guns have been a thing of the past for some years now. Chopper
