At an area gun show this past Sat. I saw what I consider, as an amatuer "Parkeristo"- a strange Parker- ID'd by seller as a PH- 12 bore twist barrels, and on the tag, it was marked as being an ejector gun- OK-- he cut the electrical yellow twist tie that freed up the top lever, and when I opened it, the extractor (lugger?) bar that spans both barrels at the breech- and without me touching either trigger blade before opening the gun- Also, besides a solid bar instead of split luggers (as on my 12 GHE) there was no milled out slots in the underside of the doll's head.??? How could the extractor bar be tripped by just opening the action on an unfired gun. Beyond me, that's for sure-- 4 digit sn- and No. 1 sized frame barrels were stamped P on the underside- no WK or JG?? any ideas- oh, he's asking $3500 FYI-- Foxie

He understands money but he is clueless on side by sides. Or perhaps he is not dumb but a common thief. Stay away!

I think he is clueless, but even if he were Larry Del Grego Jr- I would never pay that kind of money-not today, or tomorrow- I forgot to add two things, Bill- so here's what else made me "suspicious"-- the gun came with an extra barrel set- also twist and with a forearm, sn not matching the gun in??- and the gun did not have the std "pin" hinge pin with the slotted machine screw on the left hand barrel side of the receiver- also an early 18 pc. design, with no 12&1/2 degree beveledtool steel wear plate- RWTF

If it were a four digit gun, it couldn't be a PH. In fact it couldn't be a hammerless gun. Your dialog was confusing because we assumed you were going to say "and the extractor clicked like it was ejecting a shell", but you somehow didn't complete the thought. It is also no mystery that a four digit gun would not have a "wear plate" since the gun was obviously made decades before such a thing was included in Parker design. I'm not sure you were actually looking at a Parker Brothers gun since you didn't describe any of the markings on the gun except a lone "P". You could have thrown him a curve and asked him whether he would take $3400 cash for the gun.

I yield to your expertise in matters of PARKERS. I only glanced at the sn- and only saw 4 digits in scroll on the trigger guard bow- please know that in spite of the covid scares, there was a heavy crowd, folks moving behind me and my son-in-law, so getting dead nutz details was a job of work--- Damascus or Twist barrels, No milled out slots for the ejector lugger pins as like on every ejector equipped Parker I have ever handled (including my GHE-assembled for me by our late friend Brad B. about 10 years ago--flat extractor bar, but the forearm on this Parker, and also that of the second set of barrels (also Damascus) had the 2 ejector hammers in the forearm iron-- As I didn't dry fire this shotgun, wondering why the extractor bar sprung open when I opened the breech-- also, the safety slide was locked in the FIRE position-could not be moved-- If Brad were still with us, I might have considered a offer of $340- as another "Project gun"--for Brad to re-habilitate, but alas, that's not the case. Just in case you might have any interest, I wrote up an article and with Lori's fotos included, had it placed in Parker Pages- I found an early DH 12 bore action, that had been converted to a GHE by a gunsmith in MN- possibly sometime in the 1920's-- Brad found a set of 28" No. 2 frame VHE barrels, also a V grade buttstock, and the rest is history--

The SC event- are you and the "Lovely Lady Linda attending by chance?? Last time I had contact with my friend Stan Hillis, when I discussed this possibility with him, as a hard working farmer, that time frame is not the best time for him to get away from farm chores. I stopped attending SC events some time ago--sorry, but I just can't get as interested in shooting clays as I am in shooting barn pigeons and crows- to each his own. Foxy

It sounds like a Frankenstein gun with mixed parts. I saw a ejector gun with extractor barrels and ejector fire end which kind of kicked the extractor out weakly. Not a Parker but it was a cobbled together gun which the owner claimed was a rare one of a kind. He was not happy when I pointed out different serial number, different finishes and rather crap fitting “factory” job. I have no problem with people reworking part into a functioning gun from a scrap bin. Just don’t tell me Parker, Fox or Smith would ever allow such a gun to leave the factory.

I'm with you Bill. I'm still trying to figure out what a lugger is...

I be lieve"Lugger" is what the British call the extractor bar on an extractor gun- luggers are the two split bars on a selective ejector gun. RWTF

I still think Foxxy should offer $3400 for the gun.

Bill, if you were to delete a zero from your proposed offer for this "lunch pail" gun, we might be in the "ballpark"-- but $3400 is a tad overboard from this old fox.
