The NH Waterfowl season opened this morning. A friend and I walked a river jump shooting wood ducks. Three shots from my Stevens model 315 20 ga filled my limit and killed a drake and hen. Four shots were needed from my friends Parker Trojan 20 ga for two drakes with one being a crip we had look for. Score a win for Stevens :-)

Which loads and type and were you shooting the same loads?

We were both shooting 7/8 oz load of Bismuth #6. He did ask me to hold his gun at one point and I gave him mine in return, unfortunately he noticed the difference right away.
Last year I used my own Trojan 20 but the Stevens is choked IC/M which is much better fior the narrow openings of the small river. Water was so low we could move about freely in chest waders.

You're just confirming what most everyone knew, A Stevens is much more gun than a Parker, you probably have at least a pound more weight and that little skinny grip on the Parker compared to the handfull, when you grip the Stevens, plus yours has a rib extension.. It's really an unfair comparison, Your Stevensis the top of the line, the best they were making at the time, whereas the the Trojan was the bottom of the line gun for Parker, with thm making aout 8 Grades higher..MDC

Now, lemme see if I have this straight. You two lads went strolling down the river with each having his gun on a leash. When you spotted ducks you all unleashed the guns and said, "Sic 'em!" When did a 315 get to be "Top of the Line"?? I think the mention of the gun's brand names is a poorly disquised manner for some bragging. Suggst a good dose of liniment for your arm after all that self back patting.

Bragging.....oh not at all, who in the world could brag when shooting a low grade economy knockabout like a Stevens? This particular gun is marked "second" on both barrel and receiver. Truly a miracle I hit anything on the wing :-)

It was quite a day, overcast a little bit of fog. We started out in a nearby cornfield waiting on geese to come to our decoys. My partners 1900 straight grip Parjer DH and my 1910 VH 12's were ready but the geese never showed. We picked up, put on our waders and grabbed our 20's for some jump shooting of woodies. At one point when my partner was walking towards me there was a big splash. I thought he thrown something in the water to scare up ducks. Turns out he was pushing deer and a big doe had lept from the 15 foot high bank into the river with a 6 pointer right behind her. Another doe went by me on the right. We are pretty close to each other on the trap and skeet fields, who shoots better is matter of who is having a better day. The little Stevens has 2.5" drop and 14" LOP. Comes up naturally where I am looking. 28" IC/M barrels work well. Chambers were opened to 2 3/4.
