Hi everyone,

My grandfather and I would go dove hunting every opening day (September 1st in Arizona). He would use a .410 shotgun and just stand in one spot all morning. He placed a paper bag in front of him and would just patiently wait until a dove was close enough to drop it directly in the bag. I never saw him actually get one in the bag, but he hit the side of the bag a couple of times. Just just stood there and smoked his cigar until it was time to shoot.

Meanwhile, I recently inherited his shotgun. I would like to know more about it and have read many posts about using the markings to understand it better. I am completely confused by the markings and cannot make heads or tails from it, so I thought I would just upload some pictures of it and let the experts tell me what it it.

I know it is a Model 211, but I would like to know what grade and what year it was built. I have no interest in selling it, but would really like to know its history.

Can you take a look at the pics of the markings and tell me more about it please? Here is the link to the image:

Thanks,
Joe

Hello
Welcome on your first posting

For the year of proofing, look for a letter/number code as shown in the below link.

http://www.shotguns.se/html/spain.html

https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=172701

You have a Union Armera/Grulla shotgun

https://www.fincalajara.es/about-grulla

Can you post a link or a picture of the flats on the barrels?

Again, Welcome
Mike

p.s. how do you know it is a model 211? Thanks

Mike,

Thanks for the links. I wasn't able to figure out how to embed a photo with the markings to this reply, only a link to my Dropbox, where I placed the photo.

The link is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t1pcornrtyymj92/image_67178241.JPG?dl=0

Thanks,
Joe

Hi, Joe.

Your grandfather have a great shotgun in a lovely gauge. As Mike tell you, Grulla and Union Armera are de same.

Can you post more trade marks pictures? These numbers may be de serial number, the gauge and... I don't know whats the meaning of MR55.

This side by side may be lovely!

Regards!

Thank you for your post. I uploaded a couple more pic to my Dropbox. You can view them at each of the links below. Please let me know what you can determine from these markings. Based on the links Mike sent, it has several markings with many different years.

Mike,

Cleaned it up a bit with some window light. Where yours is marked No 1, this one is marked AA.
