A fellow brought this to me for parts,i quickly torched it. It is marked W.H. Whitmore on the side lock and twist Belgium on the rib. Very little twist left, it appears almost gold in color.

I don't believe it, that is a Hamilton!! Ultra rare, less than 23 ever built with carved stock. Last one sold at Judy's auction for over $300,000.00. It is now in Johnny Morris's personal collection!

Read the top, I did nothing to it. A friend found it in the basement of a house he bought. Someone sawed it off so the barrels were 13 inches. I cut it in half to destroy the barrels. He brought it to me for parts. I informed him of what could have happened to him if he would have been found with it in his possession. I cut it off for legal reasons. Someone in the past sure screwed up. I thought i would save the part's for future use. there were no hammers on the gun. Thanks for the info.

I know Geo.,can't imagine that thing being worth more than 200.00 in good shape. Just making my previous post clear. My intentions were to show the phony twist barrels. Have a wonderful Fall Day.

Rich,

Nice catch on the faux damascus. It begs the question of how the Belgian laws were interpreted / enforced. They went through a very public renunciation of faux damascus being sold as damascus. I believe the law as passed in 1897 or 1898 to stop that. Interesting that the rib only claims "twist". If you find any maker's marks on the bottom the barrels, I would be interested to learn of it.

Yeti; not sure of what you mean. I am sorry if I offend you by my lack of computer skills. I do not mean to offend. I am just trying to learn.

Here are a couple of more pictures. There are some letters (maybe insp. mark) near the torched end. they are (av) with what appear to be a star above it. On the barrels by the bottom rib are the letters (Luo) of what i believe is the importer. [img][/img]
