I am still fighting to come back from Covid19. Stupid co worker, doing stupid things, brought it into the office. He will be needing a couple new teeth when I get back there, or a new job. I have not decided if both are not the right answer.
I have been following the rules and guidelines to the max and still got it. My wife is high risk so I never take any chance. Lucky for us she did not get it from me. I even self isolate at home. So mask do help, washing hands help, social distancing does help. But you are just lowering the odds as much as you can. I strongly, very strongly, encourage you to do that to the maximum you can. You can not cure stupid and some people just will refuse to take any precautions. Stay as far away from stupid people as you can.
So far I have lost 17-18 pounds and I am afraid most of that is muscle loss. The physical weakness from this is hard to grasp. I could not move a bag of shot right now if I had to. Mental fatigue I knew to be a side effect but the physical weakness is shocking.
I have been lucky so far and only required a couple weeks in hospital stay. Home now and no longer contagious it now about rebuilding strength and deciding two teeth or just a new co worker is required next. I hate stupid people, doing stupid things that effect others and then they skip with no real price to pay. Worse I had just purchased a new Lab for this hunting season and have to wait now just to receive her. Gunning her right now is out of the question and I have been looking forwards to her for over a year.
Stay safe, stay strong and I will keep your family in my prayers. This too will pass but do not forget what moron put you and your family through this. I wont.

Chuck, I'm sorry to see that due to neighborhood occurrence of the contagion you have decided to re-isolate and give up shooting. I respect your careful response to the perceived danger, but wonder how curtailing your shooting serves to further protect yourself or the other club members. It is your business and I am not preaching anything, but I just do not understand the extreme reaction???...Geo

Better to wait a little while.
Out there doing it best I can.

Jon, you hinted at having it in an earlier post, but I misread between the lines and thought it was a minor brush with it. There's nothing minor about two weeks in the hospital. I hope you get your strength back soon. Gil

George, We aren't trying to protect ourselves, just others.
I'm not giving up shooting. Just delaying it week or so. As I mentioned, those club members are mostly elderly, most are decade or two older than me, and I am 64.
My wife doesn't want infect her mother, who has only one functioning lung and only part of it.
We've been doing limited social activities. We have dinner with friends once a week. I shoot occasionally. I work on hobbies/guns a couple times a week at my friend's production plant.

Jon, so sorry to hear that you have been very sick.
Covid is nothing to screw around with. My mid-30's daughter got a mild case right at the beginning of the New York outbreak and has been sick ever since with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. POTS results from damage to the autonomic nervous system: blood vessels in the extremities stop responding properly by contracting when one stands up from sitting or lying, kinda like the transient dizziness we sometimes get from standing up too fast (Postural Orthostatic Hypotension). In this case, it causes the heart to race in an attempt to get the blood back up: her heart rate goes from 60 to 140 in seconds just by standing up, and this leads to chronic fatigue and relapses after even minor activity, like a walk around the block. There are treatments but no cures, and the long term prognosis is not known. POTS is more common in young women, but if even a mild case of covid can cause such damage to a healthy young person, the possible consequences for old farts like most of us can be grim.

Jon, I'm like Gil. Did not realize you had a full blown case. So sorry it happened to you, and especially at this time of year.
We are in the same boat with the weight loss and weakness. I lost 20 lbs. of muscle while in the hospital for three weeks, and am on the road to getting it back now. I've gained about 4-5 lb. back in three weeks at home, and getting stronger every day, in very small increments. Going shooting tomorrow for the first time.
Hang in there, eat heavy on the protein. My GP told me that is what will build the muscle back quickest, and stay active. Push yourself.
All my best, SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Jon,
We tested negative this morning. How’s that? CA is doing the instant tests now? Best you can do here is 48hrs for a nasal swab result.I’ve had many, sadly. Thinking about getting the antibody count test soon.
Out there doing it best I can.
