Greg;
Do you have the graph which includes Ballistite? I can't really recall who, may have been Pete, but I e-mailed a copy of this one & it has been kept up here for some time. This chart was taken from a Rifleman in I believe the 50's & then was re-published in a Handloaders Guide published by the Rifleman in the 60's. Would be interested in seeing how Ballistite fit in with the others. All three of the powders listed in this one were still included in a Lyman load manual #37 (Feb-50) but Oval was not included in #38 (Jan-51). I believe it was already discontinued in 50 but still listed in the manual for stock on hand.

Pete:

Thanks very much, but I am merely passing along the good poop other fine folks have given me. My precious copy of "Smokeless Shotgun Powders", was provided me by the late Larry Barnes, who, along with such luminaries as Walt Snyder, Der Klunkermeister Russ Ruppel, Oscar Gaddy, Bill "owleye" Wise and others have taken the time to help educate me a bit over the years.

Regards

GKT

Larry Barnes' wife, Carol, probably unearthed the reference material. She owns a great old sporting book company called Gunnerman Books. Advertises in the DGJ, and is a supporter of the Vintagers. She often has a table at the Mich. Antque Arms show in Novi, MI

GKT,

I understand very well what you are saying. One benefit of this board is the sharing of information that goes on. Especially if one is willing to learn.

If you have a copy of Smokeless Shotgun Powders by Coxe, count yourself luck. It is rare as they come.

Pete
