Can you get the black brew at The Vintagers? Who's going to be there from this boards contributors? What's the weather going to be like? What's the dress code? Is an English (tweed) shooting suit OTT?

There will be plenty of brew - after all, there will be English gunmakers (the real deal). It may not be you fav, but there will be brew.
I'll be there. I'll be among the Carolinas Vintagers. If you see a spinning gun, I'll probably be on the end of the machine.
Weather is likely to be 50ish-60ish at night and 80ish during the day. No rain in sight, but bring a light rain coat.
Vintage shooting attire is suggested - not required. Tie and flat hat are nice touch, but surely not required. I'd suggest you bring light weight, warm weather clothes. Tweed in not OTT, but is usually just too warm. A lot of guys now have light cotton versions of vintage clothes. Safari look is OK, too. If none of this clicks with you, just wear whatchgot. I'm not aware of anyone ever causing an incident over clothes. We've had a few Indian chiefs, cowboys, and very formal costumes. Oh, a kilt is definitely OK. Rednecks will be in shorts and tee shirts.
PM me if you need a gun(s) and ammo(s).

Oh my-we had a 'dress code' row this time last year, and sorta piled on poor rabbit for just wanting to look period appropriate. Since most of our ancestors did not leave The British Isles or the Continent because our future options looked so bright and filled with opportunity (Clan Hunter myself via N. Ireland and apparently with a knack for picking the wrong side), it was suggested that emulating Teddy Roosevelt, the perfect model of All-American manhood, might be best. http://www.theodore-roosevelt.com/trpics.htmlAt Yellowstone, 1903 TR writing about his days in the Dakotas: We knew toil and hardship and hunger and thirst; and we saw men die violent deaths as they worked among the horses and cattle, or fought in evil feuds with one another; but we felt the beat of hardy life in our veins, and ours was the glory of work and the joy of living. This neat old Baker illustration suggests the contrast between the broad shouldered and a bit cocky Yank, and His Lordship Or maybe something like this by Arthur Davenport Fuller Lots more ideas on the 'Life is Good' album http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=17554609

Salopian, I sure hope you make the pilgrimage! It would be a pleasure to meet with you. Expect bottled beer, I doubt we’ll see a nice keg of porter with the nitrogen system and all that. According to the website, the facility has a golf course with an “authentic Scottish Pub” but who knows. If you come and they don’t have porter, then I’ll get some of those magic Guinness cans with the fizzer inside. Expect 75-ish degrees F. Most of the Vintagers club members will be in period mufti. I bet 65% of the shooters are in olde style clothes. Some of the guys have already posted their attendance in the Vintagers Shoot thread above

I will be there on Saturday. (Look for person looking for brew probably near Toby Barclay.) I will definitely look in at the Carolina encampment.
It has been hot. Since I'm flying, it's going to be some form of safari look probably.
Depending upon how fast I can get around the course, I may be looking to borrow subgauge guns to shoot as I am only traveling with two. I am sort of hoping I don't buy more...

1) Available from finer pop coolers nationwide. Millbrook was pretty Angloid and you might also have found the ploughman's lunch. Things may be different at P. Pt. but perhaps not as much as in Montana. 2) yes 3) 75 mi. northeast it's been dry and reasonably temperate for past two weeks which probably means it will be stinking hot. The last hurricano didn't even bother to come up the coast. If you're "dropping in", you probably won't need your Wellies getting off the plane. 4) Officially, I believe there's a desire for attire but no requirement and the chronologically unimaginative will tend to the undifferentiated sartorial choices of the classless society.
And one for you, Sal. Is the coast of the Chesapeake longer than the coast of England?

Jack Dudley and I will be manning the Cabela's Gun Library tables, and I look forward to meeting all of you. Montana, if you can shoot 14 7/8" LOP, come see me. Salopian, they've hit the nail on the head - dress will be all over the board. Don't know about the Guiness.

Montana, will you be taking your side lever Grant? Wish I were going too! JC

I will be attending. Will be spending time with Anglo-American Sporting Agency, Ivory Beads, or friends at ACGG booths. I hope to meet many personally that have posted here.

Wear whatever you like, this is the good ole US of A. Stop by a liquor store and pick up a few bottles of Thunderbird or Ripple. Keep 'em in a paper bag with just the neck showing as you drink. That shows respect for the folks around you. I'll be wearing baggy jeans hanging down around my ass and a baseball cap turned sideways. Hope to meet you there. nial
