I have been working on refinishing the wood on an English double. After re-assembly, the right sear will not engage. When I took it apart, I removed the sears, but nothing else. It worked perfectly before I took it apart so I suspect it's a simple adjustment. Any ideas / suggestions?

be sure the sear moves freely without the spring, make sure the spring is not binding on the action, look at sear tip and hammer bent to be sure they are free of burrs, take it out of the stock to diagnose the issue.

I had a high grade Garbi that 1 out of 100 shots the left lock wouldn't cock. I looked and couldn't find the issue but called JJ Peradeau at Champlin Arms, where the Garbi came from. He quickly identified there might be a little bit of wood keeping the sear from going back far enough to cock. With his guidance I removed microscopic amount which fixed the problem

Do the sears engage when the wood is off ?
Are the triggers full down / forward ?
Have you over tightened the hand pin so the plate is pulled up to high ?
