I picked up this early Model 21 last year.
16 Gauge, Double Triggers, Splinter Forend, Factory choked Mod / Cylinder.
Model 21 light at 6 1/4 lbs
New Haven to Europe, repatriated to North Dakota and finally landing in Sunny SoCal.

Along the way someone figured to enhance this fine double
by cutting the stock and adding a primo ventilated recoil pad

Deserving better, I chose a modest piece of American Walnut.
Soon to receive non period correct 3 point checkering, wrists to checkered butt.

Does anything else need attention Bob or all good to go once the new stock is done? Im guess in that's going to be a pretty classic looking piece of Black Walnut when the finish is on it.

Typical honest blue wear from 80 years of carry and use.
No abuse other than the cut stock and recoil pad.

It will be properly reblued and returned to factory new condition
It was also due for its' 80 year clean and adjust.

I was wondering who got that gun when it was for sale a few months ago?

That's a nice stick of wood you're putting on it.

I'm interested in these DT small bore 21's and am currently in the final phases of doing a custom upgrade on a DT 20ga myself. I just received the metal back from Angelo Bee who engraved the receiver & some light adornments on the barrels. Now it's onto bluing the barrels & final assembly.

Good luck with your project & keep us informed as things progress, I like what I see so far.

Bob:

26 or 28 inch barrels?

And do I perceive correctly that it will now be straight gripped?

If 28 inch and with a straight grip, you will own my Holy Grail of Model 21s, right down to the IC/Mod chokes.

And one I've never seen in the flesh in spite of looking for more than 30 years.
