A friend just purchased a Ugartechea Grade II double. Looks great but the forend won't release when the release button is pushed. It was shipped in two pieces and reassembled so it had been removed recently. Any thoughts. Thanks.

Use a piece of 3/8 dowel or similar to lever the forend off.Nothing metal ,so as not to damage the metalwork!

Have him take a long, rather large diameter hardwood dowel, long enough to reach past the muzzles, and depress the button with it. While holding it down lightly tap on it with a hammer (I'd use a non-marring mallet if it were me, in case it accidentally bumped the muzzles). I'll bet it comes loose.

Probably safer if another person helps by holding the gun with the butt on the floor (on a padded surface) and lightly pulling the forend away from the barrels as he taps on the end of the dowel.

I have had a similar problem and used a thin credit card slid between barrels and wood

sometimes the rod becomes turned and threads in further than it should not allowing the locking plate to clear its seat in the fore end lug. If the above methods do not work, try unscrewing the rod some. Good luck,
Steve

Thanks, Guys
Problem solved with some extra pressure on the button followed by lubrication.
