Wondering if anybody could recommend an engraver to chase the barrel rib address on a double gun. It needs to be engraved deeply because the barrels will be restruck afterwards.

Re-strike afterward? That is the exact opposite of how it should be done.
Take a smoke pull, polish, then finish for the best results.

Problem is...if they polish and redo the Damascus finish, there wont be enough of the writing to read! If if is struck deep before hand I can tell the barrel finisher to go lightly in that area so I would rather have it done first so there is something to chase.

You polish first, then re-cut the engraving, then finish. Trust me on this one.

Geoffrey Gournet. Goggle him. Might be the best at matching period engraving that has been damaged, or, if you need matching engraving added to a project.
