yep, no doubt bout hit, private gun ownership is way up...but to claim that fact to be the the reason why the people of this country have no desire to disarm is a questionable assumption, not based on any proveable evidence...last i heard, we have about 300 million firearms in private hands in this country...wonder how many of those firearms are carried routinely by their owners? we don't know...maybe one - two percent? if so, then a few million people are running around armed everyday...if these people were certified as being trained in safe firearms handling, then that would make many feel safer...problem is, we have no idea, who is carrying and their level of training and competency...every state requires drivers to pass a written and actual driving test to prove their ability to safely operate an automobile...why not the same for those of us who wish to go about armed each day?
