Hmmm....I'll go a slightly different direction here. As a new decade starts, as I watch my personal connections to this life continue to thin-out, as my own infirmities become more tangible...here are my hopes. I hope to become more and better at so many things. A better listener, a better father, a better husband, a better Christian, a better friend, and a better neighbor, more patient, more passionate, more hopeful (less negative!), more discerning, and more appreciative. Going forward, I want to use this time I've been given to make it count for something. Not sure what that means just yet but...I'm looking forward to it.

ps- being a better wing-shot wouldn't be bad either.

It makes perfect sense to me. You've got your priorities in order.

Happy New Year, brother.

Excellent thoughts Lloyd. Beside the husband part (I'm not one) I hope you don't mind if I adopt your list as my own.

Happy New Year to all.

A very good list, Lloyd and Canvasback, though too ambitious for me as my lack of patience will overcome me too often.

My goals this year are simple:
-Take better care of my health
-Declutter my house more
-Reduce my gun collection
-Reduce my car fleet
-Shoot more
-Spend more time in the field with the dogs
-Improve the garden
-Avoid aggravations
-Behave as I should

Bill, you really should wipe off your readers.

I make the New Year resolution to lavish praise and admiration on you every time you're truthful. Now, how would you define lavish? Would it feel more like a village of comfort ponies, or the high off of your first kilo of legal MT weed? If you build it, they will come.

Craig,
Beautiful. Bill cant grasp the great majority of the things you post, but, regardless, your skewering of lefty smugness and cherished shitthink is on point.
Bravo. Please dont stop.

Happy New Year.

Ted

My gun club runs a special party on January 1st every year, a few bucks off membership, catered lunch, prizes, special pricing on shooting, etc. Ive been going for years, and have had the chance the last two to buy family memberships.

I was the only shooter in my clan, it was too cold for wife and son to consider it. I shot a lousy round of skeet with my 16 gauge Nitro, and shot my first round of trap in about 5 years, knocking down a surprising 22. I was shivering at the end, had some fuzzy vision, either from the repaired retina, the cataract that is developing in that eye, or, maybe both. I did have to stop a few times, close my eyes, remount and refocus with my left eye.
Yes, jOe, my trap gun is a New Haven 600AT. I made sure I was holding it just for you.
I had a great New Years Day, one that hopefully portends to more of the same for 2020.

Ted

Argo your pictures from Chincoteague takes me back, my earliest duck hunting was with my Dad in the salt Marsh behind Chincoteague & Wallops Island. The Marsh was a wonderful place for ducks, and in the summer crab, and fishing.
