So that potential buyers could think they were getting a good deal based on the premise that they were the sophisticated buyer, and he the unsophisticated seller.

I dont usually pull stocks off refurbished guns, and Ive never encountered a seller that allowed it, so I think Bob is covered on the hidden roughness.
Exactly....I'm sure the serial number angle has been well addressed also.
