The silvered-out receiver is gorgeous, imo, and the barrels aren't that bad. Having said that, a really nice re-rust blue of the barrels would tie everything together well if you do the wood.
The forend will be tough. When wood is bruised and mashed as that, it's very difficult to make it look right. But someone like Dewey Vicknair can work wonders. Bringing the checkering back up, with the proper mullered borders, won't be easy either. This one is not for just any old gunsmith, and it will be gone for many months to the right one if you move forward with the work.
Probably should just enjoy it as-is, if you can.
