Gentlemen,

I am looking for information on a Carr Bros. Shotgun I purchased a while back. I have found very little info on the maker. The gun seems to be original except a possible new kick pad. The gun is a marvelous shooter that locks up tight. I believe the barrels to be choked full/mod. From my research on the proof marks I believe it to be built prior to 1900. Any information on the makers, the gun, and estimated value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Carr Brothers were also makers to the gun trade so turned out quite a number of guns but not that many with their actual name on. Information I have is Carr Bros. Cloth Hall St. Huddersfield, Yorkshire c.1878 4, Cloth Hall St. c1883 to c1897 Chancery Lane c1901 3a Market St. c1905 to c1913. I was once told that some of their Trade made guns had a serial number preceded by the letter 'C'. Lagopus…..

The 1Ľ oz proof usually indicates chambers of 2 3/4". The 12/C does not indicate an exact length of the chamber. 12/LC mark indicates a chamber length of "Over" 3". That said, guns with 3" chambers exist both with & without the LC mark. I believe these marks would indicate manufacture between 1887 & 1904
