The advice to use it for some time is well taken. But, it is your gun, now, and was not a collectors virgin when you got it.
Blue is a maintenance item. The checkering is to help you hang on to the gun when using it, and does not work as well for that when it is worn. It can be recut.
The recoil pad sucks. Not period, not aesthetic. People tell me that white line pads are making a comeback, but, I hope they are wrong.
Do with it as you wish. Doing nothing is not wrong, either, if that works for you.
