At a Local gunshow this weekend,I saw something that was new to me and I'm seeking information. What I saw was a box marked "Whitney Cartridge Company-Cortez Colorado. There were twenty-five twelve gauge shells in it that had a detachable body that held the primer and screwed into the head. The crimp was a standred six point, the body of the shell was orange as was the box. These came out of Florida some years ago and I was told that there had been a considerable supply which ended in the trash can.The base itself was also plastic with a gun metal color.
Is this familiar to anyone? Please think back some twenty or thirty years as I was told that was the approximately when they were made.
Best Regards
Gene

I remember them well. I never had any myself but remember that they existed and found a bunch of them thrown away at our club. The head was apparently made of a harder plastic that would stand the force of extraction better than the body material, which was intended to crimp repeatedly. I also remember the one-piece Wanda shells and the Alcan-metal zinc attemp at somehing different. I even remember when the Winchester AA shotshells came out and were, for many years, the standard that every other maker tried to attain. Good move, Winchester bean counters!
