Sal, for a guy who a few short months ago was putting out feelers in the Antipodes to find out if the natives were mixologists (and found out that most of us didn't really even know what was in the off-the-shelf stuff), you've really been spitting out the receipts. Thanks. They're all printed out (unfortunately not on archival paper) and stuffed in glassine sleeve in a notebook. I had the little bit of the old ways which survived the seachange (the "barracks soldier" puttin-in- time formula) but it would never have occured to me that the cutdown ingredients for any finish were more than water or linseed and pumice or rottenstone.
Now about that word "slacum", any idea on the origin or derivation?
