Same here is Arizona. If you have a concealed carry you just fill out the 4473 and your done. I'm somewhat surprised the Police Dept. in Michigan can sell off surplus machine guns to the general public since there is no way they can be registered. Police Depts as well as the military have always been exempt from the registration requirement.

Brady is not a 'good law'. It's a burden on non-criminal people and has not ever prevented one bad guy from obtaining a weapon and it never will.

All DOJ/ATF has to do now to prevent legal gun transfers through dealers is to shut off the NICS phone line. Don't think for a minute that the senator from NY doesn't know that.

There is talk now of eliminating 'loopholes' in the law, thus making all sales go through FFL holders. So much for freedom. What a great law.

As for Michigan needing this kind of nonsense more than other places, just remember that if they can do it to me then they can do it to you.

ALL such laws are simply stepping stones, chipping away bit by bit at our constitutional rights. The ultimate goal is prohibition and confiscation.

Machineguns are transferabble to civilians as long as they were registered prior to 1986 if american made and prior to 1968 if foreign made. If the nfa firearm was registered on a form 10 it can not be transferred to a civilian but if it is on a form 4 or 5 it can be transferred from a pd. Before 1986 most us made machineguns were transferred to police dept on a tax free form 5 and they are transferrable back to civilians. Foreign nfa like mp5 by HK are not transferrable to civilians unless brought in pre 68 or built out of a sp89 by a us class 02 manufacturer before 86.

What a confusing rediculous bunch of useless laws we have.

The 'new law' you refer to is actually then a repeal of an old law, right?

Well .....I have always beleived that there should be no backround checks...not in a FREE country..with our RIGHT to bear arms and all..

The Missouri law changed 8-28-2007 to eliminate the need for stste handgun registration, and eliminated the need to obtain a sheriff's purchase permit for each handgun. The new law also simplifies an individual selling a handgun to another individual. Federal laws still apply, and the dealer must use the normal F-4473 process.

Luddites such as Thorny seem to object to any change, even the beneficial ones. Most of the rest of us were pleased with this change. Misouri also passed a new/easier CCW law a few years back.
