No cooling off period, and faster than getting a pizza to your front door.
Is the state of Missouri telling its citizens it's everyman for himself?
Our new law makes buying a handgun the sames as a long gun - no fee - no sheriff's dept - no 7 day waiting.
Are we about to be invaded or something?

The Brady Law is nationwide. There must be a NICS check like anyplace else. 'Waiting period' is not part of Brady.

What could possibly be your problem?

If I am not mistaken, the NICS/background allows the purchaser to circumvent the Brady Law, or there's clause where an instant check can be used in lieu of the Brady Law. For several years in Alabama since the instant check was instituted, one can cash & carry with a FFL transfer.

Kind Regards,

In N.C. our concealed carry permit allows purchase sans NICS of all firearms other than full automatic. All one does is present the card and the dealer just uses the numbers on it instead of NICS. Best, Dr. BILL

Come on up to Lapeer, Michigan. Our sheriff believes everyone should own a full-automatic. The county police were up-dating their "machine guns" and ran an ad in the local paper selling the old ones. He also believes everyone should be "packing" so there is no problem with getting a conceal carry permit. We don't have a big problem with violent crime here. Paul

No need to be foaming at the mouth Shotgunjones.
I did say, "same as long guns."
Its a good law, altho' you(jones) might need it more than I, as the hot bed is in your state!

Blade,
I bid on the first M16 being silent bid auctioned. I didnt get it but it sold for somewhere close to twenty grand. I found out about the auction from fox news. I should have bought machineguns instead of doubles for the last ten years. Ive never seen any other gun appreciate like the machineguns have in the last few years. Ross

Here in SC it is pretty much the same as in NC with a concealed carry perrmit. Without one, they have to call it in and you are limited to one handgun purchase per month.

I do miss Missouri for that reason Thorny. Yesterday I went down to the Honolulu PD HQ to get my "long gun permit". I was photographed, fingerprinted twice, filled out six different forms, and paid $24 in cash. I can pick up my permit in a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of three weeks or I have to do it all over again. This allows me to bring my Dickson and my other shotguns and my .22 and double rifle over here. when they arrive I have 48 hours to appear at the HPD HQ with the guns so they can inspect them and record and varify the serial numbers. Then I can take them home. This is in addition to my C&R. This applies to all long firearms regardless of date of manufacture.

Handguns are a completely different category and require a seperate licensing after a mandatory handgun course as I understand it now. There is no distinction for date of manufacture or your C&R/FFL status. A hunting license here requires that I attend another course on hunter safety no matter how long you've been hunting or how many licenses you've had or how many other hunter safety courses you've completed. Concealed carry??............foggedabouddit brudda!!!

SO, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS COULD HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES...........ITS ALREADY HERE........DON'T LET IT SPREAD!!!!

I guess that's just one of the prices of living in paridise!! Somehow, I don't think the NRA is going to be able to help us much out here.......sadly.
