"I saw on the Commercial firearms section of Gun Boards a man with a Geco Sporting rifle asked what the markings under barrel represented. The 38 Si 116 is for date 1938 with barrel Steel by Si = Silesiastahl firm lot 116. German Military required all steel supplier codes and lot numbers so any defect barrels could be tracked etc. Regards,. Jon Speed"
