Gentlemen, I am still learning the subtleties of determining if a gun possesses original case colors. Please take a look at this gun and let me know what you think. My guess is that they were re-done as they seem a bit too vivid, but I would appreciate the experts weighing in. Reproof in '86 for 2 3/4" chambers.

Digital pictures can be extremely deceptive but I would tend to agree with you that this gun has been recolored. I have seen really low use guns re-prooved but it is rare. If I was a betting man my money would be on refinished.

Barrel blue looks original, and case colors seem to match the barrels' condition, so I believe they are original. The triggers show no use either, so that also makes me think the gun has been left alone. JR

I'd guess recolored too. For me, one clue is that the triggers have been colored, not a common practice by makers.

Did Boss point up the checkering at this period of time? I do not think so.

They altered the chamber from 2 1/2 to 2 3/4. So my guess is that it was redone then. Well done in any case. Use it and forget about it.

I just reached out to the dealer who stated that he believed the colors were re-done in England at the time of re-proof in '86. Good Eye, Bill...I hadn't noticed the trigger re-blue. The bores measure close to nominal and remain thick at .030, so I wonder why it was lengthened and tarted up in '86. The wood is 13" long with a 1/2" pad added. The gun is available for viewing on Mike Schwandt's site if anyone desires a more detailed pictures.
