In Burrardfs load chart for British Shotshells, he lists the standard load for the 3 3/4" 8 gauge as 2 3/8 os over 7 drams or equivalent powder charge. When loading on the "Low Velocity" principal the powder charge was cut back to 6 drams &* the shot charge upped to 3 oz. I have not checked my Greener book to see what charges he listed.

Burrard listed the 8 gauge as being available in lengths of 4¼", 4",
3 3/4", 3½" & 3¼".
