Another way to look at it might be, if something is desirable to a person, hasn't been made for a long time, and was available in very limited quantities. Then, I think there's something special about the item being unaltered. That doesn't mean anyone else shouldn't do what ever they feel like, but they don't make 'em like they used to. As to the subject gun, there's no doubt to me that it would become more interesting if the price varied, but I think there would be reasonable questions if it weren't for sale.
