Bill, there is nuance there you are missing. Slick Willie didn't free the banks to do as they pleased.....he specifically enacted (and removed) rules that highly encouraged giving mortgages to low income people who otherwise would not be able to qualify for a mortgage. All for votes from a specific minority. This was politics.....not economics.
