CB, I disagree that socialism and communism are the same thing. All forms of communism are socialist, but many forms of socialism are not communism. Lumping them together ignores reality and makes honest debate impossible. I'm not unaware of Stalin's Russia or the current condition in Venezuela. In our own country we've socialized defense, public safety, education, and care for the elderly. The point here would seem to be one of degree. Lots of socialism can be bad. In my view, privatizing Social Security is one of the worst ideas ever. A government planned economy won't work here, but there's an obvious role for government in keeping business and industry in bounds. Of course, we'll disagree that the extent of that role.

And he still conveniently "forgets" that Obama did a piss-poor job of getting us out of the Great Recession of 2008. He used a template put in place to bail out auto companies and financial companies (TARP) that was handed to him by the Bush Administration before Bush left office. Obama did very little himself to help fix things, and wasted time golfing and blaming Bush. Billy wants us to forget that Obama had the weakest post-recession recovery on record, and told us that economic malaise and chronic high unemployment would be the new normal.

Meanwhile, Trump has us down to 3.7% unemployment and in an economy that keeps churning ahead. Billy wants to give Obama credit for that success, and impeach Trump, and replace him with another Socialist loser!

One can only imagine how bad the 2008 Great Recession would have gotten if Bush simply handed Obama the keys and told him, "You Liberal Left anti-gun Democrats started this mess... now you can fix it!"

The ignorant liar Billy also wants us all to forget about all of the failing Socialist "slices of heaven" that have driven millions to flee brutal dictators and flood other countries with refugees seeking political asylum. It must be because they got tired of having too much free stuff.

The example of the ongoing disaster in Venezuela was pointed out to Billy less than a week ago, and this dim bulb is already back again defending Socialism as a better alternative to Capitalism.

I sincerely hope that when Donald Trump is re-elected in 2020, he makes it a priority to get rid of idiots like rocky mtn bill who are teaching garbage and lies to our kids in public schools.

Billy is in denial about the numbers of humans killed as a result of Liberal left Socialism. The numbers of little humans killed annually just in this country alone are staggering. But Libtards like Billy see them as inconvenient blobs of tissue:

You do know where that China has 285 billionaires? Second highest in the world. All created in the last 25 years. That from a country which was and still is communist or more truly a communist dictatorship. Don't give me this China is raising everyone up instead be honest. The elite communist, the friends of those in power, have cornered vast amounts of wealth for themselves. Just like in the former Soviet Union the elite are today's nobility with wealth and only lacking the noble titles.

Yes we sure will disagree as to the extent. As I said in an earlier post, governments do have a regulatory role. But they over-reach as a matter of course. It's the very nature of large bureaucracies. So, IMHO, we must constantly be pulling back on the reins of government while you would encourage digging in your heels and yelling giddyup!.

And, as I said before, trying to distinguish between socialism and communism is a muggs game....semantics.....the objective is always the same....accruing all power to a centre and holding onto that power at all cost.

Gotta hand it to the free market and the democracies that have a semblance of it....they have largely mastered the art of the peaceful transfer of power. Something your socialist / communist buddies haven't quite figured out yet. Probably because they don't want to. LOL

Two thoughts here Bill. First, if social security is privitized, are you worried that there won't be imaginary funds to raid for unrelated money pits?

And second, wouldn't honest debate include facts about how you claim the American citizen will be protected from 'lots of socialism can be bad'? Will you honestly debate about how the twenty dem candidates who recently 'debated', limit their ambitions to only 'good' socialism? 'Good', according to who, the asexual speaker of the house aoc?
