Only 1&1/8oz stuff can be fired out my Sterlingworth made in 1930. The 1&3/8oz Eley base loads require gun 3.5 ton rating while Winchester marked stuff probably 4 tons.

As I have posted before, on public land where non-tox is mandatory, I shoot steel 4's for pheasants, and steel 6's for dove through an old A.H. Fox that has CYL and IC chokes. I've done this for 5 years with zero problems.
I WON'T do this with my SxS's that are choked Modified & Full.
We really do need a new source of Bismuth loads!

By the way, I contacted the Remington factory recently about steel shot capability in their shotguns. Their response was that any Remington made after 1950 is safe with steel shot, EXCEPT they do not recommend any steel shot larger than #4 through FULL choked barrels. For what it is worth....

Guns traded for plows in the smoke filled honky tonks are not on record - what better way to get 'em off the streets than make them shoot steel for fowl and public areas. Even the sodbuster knows his A-5 might not be up for it.

Lowell, As usual I am somewhat confused by your post(s), but can you explain precisely what you mean by your allusion to "sodbuster" and "A-5s". Surely I don't detect contempt for either in your post - do I?

Don't be Perry, and no. Nothing ranks higher than the farm and the farmer with me. If I coulda, I'd been a farmer!

Be good to Lowell. He's my daily smile. He's having fun. If you're not having fun, you're not living.
