Tomorrow is Father's Day.

Statistics from http://fathers.com/statistics-and-research/the-extent-of-fatherlessness/
Of students in grades 1 through 12, 39 percent (17.7 million) live in homes absent their biological fathers.
57.6% of black children, 31.2% of Hispanic children, and 20.7% of white children are living absent their biological fathers.

Feel like a kid again, like Jon. Find a young man into which you can invest time, caring, and a sense of self-worth. Take him to the gun club. If old enough, give him a shotgun, but keep it in your safe until he can secure it.
Don't give up when it gets tough - he has probably never had anyone in his life that didn't let him down, hurt him, or tell him he was worthless.
The Progressives have destroyed Boy Scouts, which made a huge difference in my life when my doctor father, son of a big time Baptist preacher, left when I was 8. There are still Trail Life, the YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, Salvation Army, and kids in your church; and all have very rigorous Child Protection Polices for your safety as well as the kids.

Does anyone remember the Corey Ford series in which one of the "Lower Forty" took a fatherless young man under his wing?

Most of our fathers are gone. Some were not the fathers they should have been, but we can still honor them by being a father to a young man or woman.

I believe that member was "Cousin Sid"" Certainly not Mr. McNab, who had the same viewpoint towards children as espoused by W, C, Fields-- "Go away kid, you bother me"-- I owe my love of guns and gunning and the out-of-doors to my late Father and Grandfather, and many of their friends and hunting pals--RWTF
