I don't use any product to clean hand oils, sweat , etc. from guns before oiling the metal down. I wipe them very briskly with a clean, dry cloth to remove as much loose stuff as possible. Then, I wipe down the metal with a cloth impregnated with Eezox. This is for guns that will be used relatively soon, again. Different stuff for guns going into medium to long term storage.

The wood gets a coat or two of Renaissance Wax every so often.

Understand that this is in reference to the exterior fo the gun. Much more attention is given the interior parts.
