Excuse me people but there's a huge difference between hunting, matching wits, and shooting wild game in their home environment; as compared with being an executioner waiting for confused, disoriented and partially de.feathered birds that try to escape from a dark box. That's why sportsmen call the former "fair chase" and the latter, killing for no reason. At least if the pigeons were eaten that might redeem it, same as poultry in a store. But the pigeon shoots I've done all the birds were dumped unceremoniously over a bank or in a dumpster. Driven bird shoots where the birds are hauled out of a pen and thrown or propelled from a device toward the shooters are better; in most cases the birds are eaten by someone even if the shooter declines to take any home. For those that posted links of bear hunts, etc. keep in mind the bears aren't killed for the sake of killing and then discarded in a dump. The Game people take a dim view of that waste including fines and other penalties. The problem I have with pigeon shoots is the killing for no reason, executioner style, no harvesting of the meat. Yah, killing is killing but why take the life of any animal and discard its corpse like it was nothing but waste? Grow up people.
