Concur- 100% Stan. In one of my Gene Hill books, he details how the late Rudy Etchen dropped in at Gene's duck club, but w/o a shotgun- As Rudy loved the 870, they found one in 12 gauge for him- but before he went out hunting, he pattern tested that 870, adding a few layers of something (cardboard and duck tape?) before he shot ducks with it. How a gun fits, with a consistent- "Move, Mount and Shoot" technique no matter which gun or even gauge you choose to shoot- is the key to good shooting. RWTF

I have had good luck with the first item on the left. You need to smooth out the inside plastic rim where it meets the wood so not to scratch the wood.

It's a very fine shotgun. He's been given a $10,000 estimate of its "worth". More importantly to him, is that it was his Grandfather's gun that he had custom built for him. He doesn't want to touch the gun or do anything that would impact its appearance.

It may become a seldom shot gun. He has an 870 for ducks and found a 20 ga Beretta SXS that patterned just fine for him. So, the 20 ga will get used for sporting clays and upland birds unless he finds a non-invasive way of raising the comb.

Sounds like moleskin may be the first approach.

Thanks again.
