Legendary Brents Deli, rated the #1 Deli in the country

Legendary Brents Blackened Pastrami on double baked Rye, none finer

Legendary Art Isaacson and his son Brad

I've been a fan and customer of Art's Gun and Sport Shop for almost 2 decades.
Just a couple of great guys.
Art and Brady were in SoCal meeting with legendary engraver Angelo Bee.
They concluded their business, took a quick trip to the Pacific Ocean (Malibu)
and then we shared a meal before they hit the road on their return trip to Missouri.
Can't get a sandwich like that in Hillsboro.

Directly next door to Brents was a bar, The Tipsy Fox.
There was a pass through behind the counter where Deli fare was
delivered to waiting drinkers. Pretty sweet set up for both owners.

Typical long waits in the deli could be circumvented by enjoying a beer with your pastrami.

When I lived the New England, I was always impressed with the quality of the deli's I found at country stores, especially in Vermont and NH would be a close second. So I wonder how they would compare to Brents...

I will admit, that blacked pastrami does look mouthwatering!

Ahh, good smoked meat.

The only thing that made business trips to Montreal worth it. Ben's Deli before it closed and Schwartz's still.

Now I'm hungry.

Hot pastrami, swiss cheese, and coleslaw on grilled rye is my favorite. It tastes especially good on the back of a tail gate after an all day hunt!
Zingerman's in Ann Arbor has one of the best in Michigan.

That bread doesn't look like it would hold up in a sandwich. Our best deli, Parkway Deli in Silver Spring, MD, suffers the same defect. Weak rye bread. I make my corned beef and pastrami sandwiches at home now.

Blasphemy.

Don't be deceived by the impression your getting regarding the bread. Easily as thick as your hand.
Were it not for the gigantic "Deli Stack" of Pastrami the bread would look a lot more sizeable.
Rye bread courtesy of Delicious Bakery. Thick sliced, double baked.
Best in the west.
