Now then,

Anyone had any trouble with the winchester select series of guns?

I have a gun bought in with the top lever "sticky"

Fact is its not the top lever so much as the locking mechanism.

The two pins that protrude from the action to lock the barrels closed are whats causing the "sticky" feel.

The barrels are assisted open by the ejector springs; so the barrels are always wanting to spring over, if you hold the gun closed and operate the lever it opens buttery smooth; but if you operate the lever and allow the barrels to drop the lever feels sticky as the locking pins bind up as the barrels open.

Ive polished both areas so a 7000 grit mirror polish, and relieved the sharp edge that was digging into the pins a little - its helped a little but its still sticky.

Has anyone resolved this issue or worked on a similar type of issue with the similar locking mechanism ( not conventional underbolt bites but two locking pins?

I'd be interested to hear.
