The Alex. Henry and Adams in the first link are very similar to what I have except for the higher fences on mine. Will look up Stanton. Gratitude can be so humbling. I have been so impressed with the generosity, good will and knowledge of the respondents on this forum to my initial post. There is an untangled wisdom here that could help mend the divisions that plague our country and planet. Blessings to all who have structured and nurture this community, especially you and Dr. Kraus in my particular case. I've spent much of my 74 years roaming northern Maine's lakes and forests hunting, fishing and trapping finding harmony with the wild. My suspicion that such harmony could also be found in community has been confirmed.

Well, I believe that was the actual intent of the form along with making a little money for some sort of adornment. I am only a curator of info gather by many before me as well as custodian of a few examples from the Golden Era of Shotgunning. I too spend a great deal of time in the bush & indeed there is harmony along with order.
What about those set screws in each corner of the standing breech? Do they hold the strikers in place? I've seen conical fences/balls but those are quite odd. To mine eyes, it looks to be cast?
Cheers,
Raimey rse

Very interesting and some similarities in the barrels and striker locations, and the long tangs, forearm and butt plate. The locks are quite different though with main springs in front of the hammers. I was wondering how mine could be valued and this one seems high to me for what it is. I can now see your point about how this percussion's configuration could be converted to centerfire. Nice find, OWD.

Raimey, I noticed on the percussion barrel picture on gunbroker.com that OWD linked, there was a lip at the lower end of the muzzles that seemed to serve to hold the ramrod from slipping out. Is that unique to percussion barrels only. because there is such a reinforcement, not quite so pronounced on mine. It could also just be there to reinforce and bind the underside rib. I have an 1881 Parker underlever that does not have this reinforcment.

I took a close look with a magnifying glass and the right side does have a circular impression, but it does not appear to be a screw. The left side doesn't show the same circular mark.
