Well, I believe that was the actual intent of the form along with making a little money for some sort of adornment. I am only a curator of info gather by many before me as well as custodian of a few examples from the Golden Era of Shotgunning.
I too spend a great deal of time in the bush & indeed there is harmony along with order.
What about those set screws in each corner of the standing breech? Do they hold the strikers in place? I've seen conical fences/balls but those are quite odd. To mine eyes, it looks to be cast?
