Look at the shouldered forend on the gun from Cabela's. It is a 701 or at least has a 701 forend,

The 701 has that feature + SAFE in gold. The 702 did not have either.

The wood quality supposed to better & the engraving is a bit more extensive on the 701 as compared to the 702 but it would be tough for me to distinguish a 701 from a 702 based on the engraving & especially the wood quality as it varies a lot from gun to gun & I've seen 702 guns with more attractive wood than some 701 guns.

Another & internal difference is that both of my 701 guns have a locking screws on the cocking lever pivot screws, a feature that the 700 guns don't have. I've never had a 702 apart so I don't know about them.

To the OP,

I have 2 701 W&S guns & as far a I know there is no marking on the guns that identifies the grade, only the features.
