The Old piece of Purdey Workshop Equipment was,(According to Harry Lawrence and Bill O"Brien) was James Purdey the Elder 1784-1863. The Wood-Screw Thread Cutting Die..2 Sizes, Trigger Guard screw & Steel Butt-Plate Screw. I had to make Many,many screws on this back in the 1950s & 60s.Using just a ;Chest-Brace with a 'Chisle'to turn the Screw Blank. I used it most recently to make 2 new Extra Long Butt-plate Screws for a Magnificent Condition Purdey Double Rifle c 1869.It still Cuts Threads as well as the day JP 1st made it.
